Walls of connection
ACT! Walls of Connection
Pre-painting discussions
Pre-wall community discussions are an important part of Walls of Connection project. Every team needs to host creative process workshops mobilizing art schools, youth clubs, cultural centers and the representatives of marginalized communities in discussions with artists.
These groups can discuss their ‘Dreams of Connection’ within their community in series of inclusive workshops of brainstorming.
Starting the process of painting ‘Walls of Connection’
The community comes together to select a wall with a meaningful symbol for the community, reflecting the idea of creating connection after separation. This can be separation of borders, communities, economic, ethnic or religious groups.
As part of the process, we train young emerging muralists as part of the process by engaging them in the painting and the pre-painting workshops.
After-Wall Community Projects
After painting the mural with community, the teams organize engagement events such as music concerts, pop-up performances, street markets, theatre shows, or just public gatherings where stakeholders such as governments, cultural institutions, youth groups, marginalized groups and media can be present.
In this way, the painting event will be the kick-off for a local community-building program supported by our MasterPeace teams working in co-creation with community stakeholders.
