Nigeria: Nelson mind project

What Happened

Despite being almost half of the population, this numerical strength of the Nigerian women has not affected the age-long inferior status the society bestows on the women. Our MasterPeace club in Nigeria working on that exact aspect.

The project Nelson Minds is aimed to equip the minds of young females with peacemaking skills and resources to address conflict of the mind situations within their community. The idea came from the collaboration with Egunec Education Support Foundation (EESF), a foundation dedicated to creating a better Nigeria through Education and Community Development.

A series of intensive entrepreneurship, leadership and peace building topics where given to a selected group of young high potential female leaders.

Impact

1- At the end of the training, beneficiaries developed knowledge and skills on their strengths in the areas of passion, abilities and belief.

2- Equipped with necessary tools to defeat conflicts of the mind and tap into the peace development potentials within them.

3- Provided with mentorship and empowerment for young professionals with the capacity to design and develop projects that provides peace in vulnerable communities.

Next steps

1- The program will provide training to future groups after the success of this one.

2- These women will start their own small business to serve the community and their own financial stability.

3 – Egunec aims to empower 1000 vulnerable communities in Africa and this is the start.

4- The trained women will act as trainers themselves to future groups to create a support network.
